Become a Lewis & Clark Adventure Volunteer!

Two hundred years ago Meriwether Lewis, William Clark and 40-some volunteers built and resided in a three sided structure they named Fort Mandan. Today you can be part of their lasting legacy by becoming a volunteer at Fort Mandan and the North Dakota Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center at Washburn, ND. Washburn is located 38 miles North of Bismarck, on US Highway 83.

Volunteering for the Lewis & Clark Fort Mandan Foundation has many exciting opportunities. Orientation is provided for all positions on site and all volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Become part of the most thrilling time in North Dakota’s history since Lewis and Clark resided here over two centuries ago.
